National Payroll Week 2025
National Payroll Week is 1st – 5th September and gives us an opportunity to thank our staff for all their hard work and recognise the important role of payroll. There will be cake!
It can be easy to forget what happens in the background to make sure that payroll runs smoothly. Here are a few details of how we spend our days…
The payroll team’s main aim is to ensure that employees are paid:
- Accurately
- Correctly
- On time
- In line with legislation
We ensure that employers are fulfilling their legal duties and employees are paid their hard-earned wages. Everyone want to be paid the right amount, at the right time, and we do our best to do just that.
We are responsible for:
- Producing payslips
- Applying tax codes (but we cannot change them unless HMRC tells us to)
- Ensuring tax is taken correctly
- Ensuring National Insurance is taken correctly
- Sickness pay
- Parental leave (such as maternity and paternity)
- Handling queries
- Making payments on time for managed accounts (employees, agencies, third parties)
- Reporting of deductions (tax, NI, pensions)
- Pension processing
- Pension reporting
- Testing and updating systems
- Keeping up to date with legislation, case law and best practice
And much more
Remember that we are here to help and support you as an employer, so feel free to contact us with any questions
